Why Scentia

Why Scentia

Most home fragrance products — candles, plug-ins, ultrasonic diffusers — work by heating or diluting the fragrance before it reaches you. That changes the scent profile and limits how far it carries. Cold-air nebulizing diffusion does neither.

Scentia diffusers atomize pure fragrance oil into microscopic particles using pressurized air. No heat. No water. The oil goes into the air at full concentration, which means the complete scent profile — base notes, mid notes, top notes — is present from the start. It's the same technology used in commercial hotel scenting systems. The difference you notice walking into a luxury hotel lobby versus most homes is mostly this.

How Cold-Air Diffusion Works

A cold-air diffuser pulls pressurized air through a glass or metal bottle of fragrance oil. The air breaks the oil into particles fine enough to stay suspended — a dry mist you can smell but can't see or feel. There's no heating element, no water tank, no residue left on surfaces.

Because the oil isn't diluted, a small amount goes a long way. A 120ml bottle in a ScentiaMax diffuser covers up to 2,000 sq ft and runs for weeks on a single fill, depending on intensity settings.

What this means in practice:

  • No added humidity in the room
  • No mold risk from standing water in a tank
  • No surface residue or oil staining
  • Scent that lingers for hours after the diffuser cycles off
  • A cleaner, truer representation of the fragrance as formulated

Why It's Different from Ultrasonic Diffusers

Ultrasonic diffusers — the most common type sold online — mix fragrance oil with water and use vibration to create a mist. The water dilutes the oil before it disperses. You get maybe 5–10% actual fragrance in the mist. They also add humidity to the air, which can encourage mold in water tanks left between uses.

Cold-air diffusers skip all of that. Pure oil, pressurized air, nothing else.

For Business and Commercial Use

Scentia diffusers are used in offices, retail stores, spas, salons, and hospitality properties. The ScentiaCasa HVAC system is the most practical option for commercial spaces — it connects to existing ductwork and scents an entire building without requiring individual units in every room.

Our Oils Are Made in the USA

All Scentia fragrance oils are formulated and produced in the United States. We work with IFRA- and RIFM-compliant ingredients and manufacture to the same standards used by commercial hotel scenting suppliers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are cold-air diffusers safe for pets?
Yes, when used as directed. Scentia oils are phthalate-free, paraben-free, and VOC-compliant. We recommend normal ventilation and not running the diffuser at maximum intensity in a small enclosed space with pets for extended periods — the same common sense that applies to any scented product.

Can I use Scentia oils in other brands' diffusers?
Scentia oils are compatible with any waterless cold-air diffuser that accepts standard oil bottles. They are not designed for ultrasonic diffusers, which require water-diluted oils.

What's the difference between the Luxury Resort Collection and the Designer Collection?
The Resort Collection is built around hotel scent profiles — clean, ambient, room-filling fragrances designed to scent a space rather than be worn. The Designer Collection is inspired by fine perfume houses and tends toward more personal, complex scent profiles.

How long does a bottle of oil last?
Depends on the diffuser and intensity setting. A 120ml bottle in a ScentiaMax running at medium intensity in a 1,000 sq ft space typically lasts 3–4 weeks.
